BITTER MEEKE DUMPED BY MINIMINIBRITISH STAR Kris Meeke has been dumped by the Mini WRC team for 2012, following a decision to run only Dani Sordo in every round. After hearing the news, he posted a bitter message to his Twitter followers: "Ever had the girl you love tell you she's going to work as a prostitute?'However, the Ulsterman remains part of the team in a testing role, possibly competing in a third car if funds become available.A source at parent company BMW confirmed the move, saying, "Sordo will do every rally, but Kris Meeke won't." The team's second car will be hired to cash-rich local drivers. Corsican Pierre Campana gets it for the Monte, with Patrik Sandell and Armindo Araujo stepping in for Sweden and Portugal.Prodrive, the firm that runs the Mini program, declined to comment on its plans for the 2012 season. However, a source confirmed a determination to keep Meeke's hopes alive, saying, "Kris is part of the team and he is an exceptional driver. We want to see him in the Mini in every round possible."But another source said: "It's all very well people saying that we will find the funding for a third car, but at the moment we're still having trouble finding any for the first one."The move comes amidst continuing tension between BMW and Prodrive. The original deal involved limited finance from the German firm, with Prodrive finding separate sponsorship and income from customer cars.Sordo got the nod on the basis of "seniority" and his two podiums last year. However, the Spaniard is a tarmac specialist, while nine of this year's rallies are on gravel, where Meeke has proven to be the faster driver. The former IRC champion declined to comment.JW
